For women in good health, of any age
French recommendations call for an annual breast palpation and a mammogram every two years from age 50 to 74.
Pap smears are recommended at age 25, 26 and 29, and a Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) test every 5 years until age 65. HPV vaccination is recommended for girls and boys starting at age 11.
The midwife can prescribe all STI screening tests, including for partners, as well as their treatment if it does not require referral to a GP.
Birth control can be provided at the first visit, without a clinical exam if you are healthy. The midwife can prescribe all types of contraception, including IUDs and implants. The contraception consultation is an opportunity to discuss menstrual cycle and fertility.
All matters of sexuality or perineum issues can be discussed during the gynecological follow-up consultations
From the pre-pregnancy consultation to the post-partum consultation
Recommendations call for 7 prenatal appointments, the first before 10 weeks of amenorrhea (SA), the second comes after the first ultrasound, then one per month until term.
This is a time without medical examination that allows for an exchange about the pregnancy, your expectations, your fears, what matters for you, etc. After the birth, we would discuss any topic linked to post-partum.
During these 7 sessions, we will discuss the end of pregnancy, labor, delivery, the rhythm of the newborn, the return home, and answer any questions you may have.
Under prescription, the midwife will perform foetal monitoring at home.
When you leave the maternity ward, the midwife comes to your home to monitor your newborn (jaundice, weight, nutrition), follow up on the mother, and provide support for parenthood.
The first gynecological appointment is conducted 6 to 8 weeks after delivery. It allows us to check that you are in good health, to answer any questions you may have, and to discuss birth control.
10 sessions can be scheduled after the post-natal consultation, and after a manual testing. Several methods can be proposed according to your needs: re-education using mental images, gymnastics exercises, abdominal exercises, bio-feedback probe.
Everyone has had the experience of reading a novel and escaping from reality, or of being suspended in time while contemplating the movement of the waves, etc. In short, everyone has experienced a modified state of consciousness (different from the usual waking state). The hypnotic state is precisely that moment of consciousness when things are perceived differently. This is how the French Institute of Hypnosis describes the hypnotic state.
The goal of a hypnosis session is to allow you to find this state on your own, allowing you to find your inner resources, to feel confident, to find calm, relaxation and well-being. Hypnosis can be an extra tool in your pain management toolbox.
What if you could bring your own midwife with you on the delivery day at the University Hospital?
Having been able to choose the person who would be there on D-day, I know the comfort of knowing in advance who will be there, of being with a person who knows us, with whom trust has been built throughout the pregnancy.
If mother and baby are healthy, and if you plan on a natural birth, I can offer you a continuous care throughout the pregnancy, and an on-call presence during the last month. I will be with you for the delivery in the Lotus room of the University Hospital of Grenoble, accompany you during the labor, and perform your physiological delivery.
